Yuna, 15 years old, CMAS 2* diver.

My name is Yuna, I’m from France, I am 15 years old and I did a one-week work experience at Purple Dive Penida for school (year 9).

When did you start diving?

I did my first dive at the age of 9, on a one-week diving course during my summer vacation.

What made you want to become a diver?

I grew up in a family of divers so, during my childhood, I have always been close to the sea! I wanted to discover what was under the surface.

What has been your best/most memorable dive?

My most memorable dive was with Purple Dive, in Nusa Penida, Bali, about 6 months ago. We saw manta rays, so many fish and lots of turtles, it was great! 🤩

Most gratifying scuba diving course you have taken?

Two years ago, I my CMAS 2-star diving course near my city and I learned a lot of things in a fun way that I still remember today.

5 qualities of a great dive pro?

The 5 qualities are humour, patience, respect, sociability and the ability to speak several languages.

Do you think women are different divers than men and why?

I think women are different divers than men but not necessarily better.

Women can control their buoyancy faster because they consume less air while diving, I think.

One piece of advice for someone starting diving

The only advice I can give you is BREATHE !! Don’t try to save your air on your first dives because you have to discover how buoyancy works, not only in theory but also by practising!

Yuna, you truly are one of the inspiring women divers out there!
