Crystal Bay

Dive site Crystal Bay in Nusa Penida

Crystal Bay is one of the most famous dive sites in Penida, in part due to the numerous sightings of the Mola-mola. As the name suggests, it is a sandy bay, which curves around an island into a coral wall which slopes to 40+ meters. It is down in the depths where the Mola are often spotted (in season). Other than the Mola, this site offers a rich variety of both corals and marine life. You can expect to see moray eels, turtles, many bannerfish and butterfly fish and a host of macro life.

Divers can either start in the bay and work out towards the deeper wall, or jump on the wall and head back to the bay. This site can be suitable for beginner (in the bay) and advanced level alike, however, Crystal Bay is known for it very strong currents (including down currents) so tide times must be assessed and it is not always accessible.
