SD Point
Dive site SD Point in Nusa Penida
SD Point is a drift dive site in the north of the island. Its name comes from "Sekolah Dasar", the primary school on the shore. The current here can be quite strong and you can enjoy drifting along the sloping coral reef. In this site, the corals are vibrant, offering both hard and soft corals, with barrel sponges hiding a host of smaller marine life. You can expect to see trigger fish, butterfly fish, turtles, reef sharks, and if the current isn’t too strong is a great place to find the smaller orangutan crabs and mantis shrimps.
The reef plateaus in the shallow, and slopes down to the depths, where in season, you may be lucky to spot a Mola-Mola. This dive site can be enjoyed at any depths, whether you stay nearer the shallow plateau or descend deeper to try to spot a Mola – this site will be sure not to disappoint.
