PADI Rescue - course description
The PADI Rescue Course is one of the most challenging courses; it will teach you how to overcome stress, recognise and respond divers in distress and learn methods in accident prevention.
The course consists of one day in the pool, where you will learn rescue techniques both under the water and on the surface. The next two days you will do 4 dives, during which you will transfer these rescue techniques to the ocean then put your skills to the test in some practice scenarios.
You will cover theory on pressure related injuries and diving physiology and physics. All the theory is done via the PADI app at home, ahead of the start of your course.
The Rescue course with us, is flexible and is all about mastery learning. It is a demanding but very rewarding course and we promise you will laugh a lot along the way!
Schedule PADI Rescue course:
Day 1: Pool. We meet at 8am. Your instructor will have you practice all the skills for the course in the safety of our pool. The session will include, learning self-rescue exercises and how to deal with both panicked divers and unresponsive divers underwater and on the surface. The pool session usually finishes in the afternoon, with a short break for lunch (included in the price).
Day 2: Ocean Practice. We meet at 7:30am. You will join the boat trip and do 2 dives where you will practice all the skills from the pool in an open water environment. After the 2 dives, we return to the dive centre for lunch around 1pm
Day 3: Ocean Scenarios. Again, we meet at 7:30 and join the boat for the 2 dives. You instructor will set up 2 rescue scenarios, which will include, having to use search patterns, dealing with an unconscious diver and administering CPR.
If you need to complete your EFR certification, we can offer this by adding half a day before the Rescue course starts. You will also need to complete the E-learning before the course. Please see here for more information regarding our EFR course.
