How long to stay in Nusa Penida?

Nusa Penida is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for an off-the-beaten-path adventure, as it offers a wealth of natural beauty, unique attractions and cultural experiences. While it might look small on the map compared to Bali, it is in fact quite big! In this post, we'll explore how to experience all that Nusa Penida has to offer!

How big is Nusa Penida?

First, it's important to understand the size of the island. Nusa Penida measures only about 60 square kilometers, but the terrain is quite rugged and the road infrastructure is poor. This means that even though the island is small, it can take quite a bit of time to explore, especially if you want to see more remote areas.

In addition, some of the island's best attractions are quite spread out, making it difficult to see everything in just one day.

When it comes to attractions, Nusa Penida has something for everyone. The island's beaches are a major draw, with crystal clear waters and excellent snorkeling and diving opportunities. Some of the most popular beaches include Crystal Bay and Angel's Billabong. Nusa Penida also boasts some of the best diving spots in the world, with a variety of marine life to discover. Some of the popular dive spots include Manta Point, which offers the chance to spot manta rays and other large pelagics, and Gamat Bay, which is known for its beautiful coral and large schools of tropical fish. Snorkelling or diving in Nusa Penida is certainly a must-do!

The island's natural beauty is also a major attraction, with many limestone cliffs, caves, and temples to explore. The famous Kelingking Beach is a must-see, with a viewpoint over a secluded bay. Pura Goa Putri is an unusual temple located in an underground cave. For more details about the main spots in Nusa Penida, check our previous blogpost here.

If you want to make the most of your trip to Nusa Penida, we highly recommend spending at least 3 to 4 days on the island. This will give you enough time to explore the island's main attractions and also discover some hidden gems that are off the beaten path. And of course, give you time to plan some diving in Nusa Penida!

While it may be possible to see the island's main attractions in just one day, it would be quite rushed and you would miss out on many of the island's other wonders. With three to five days, you'll have plenty of time to take it all in and truly experience the best of Nusa Penida.
