How to get to Nusa Penida from Bali? July 2023

We bring to you the latest info on how to get to Nusa Penida from Bali!

Here is an overview of the main transport options.

Nusa Penida Bali
Nusa Penida's incredible coastline

All the boats to Nusa Penida arrive on the North coast of the island, in one of the 3 harbors: Toyapakeh, Buyuk, and Sampalan.

Upon arrival at all of them, you will easily find local taxi service and motorbike rental. Don't forget to haggle a little!

Get from Sanur to Nusa Penida

Coming from South Bali or Sanur, the new Sanur harbor is your best option. There are plenty of different fast boat companies, and boats leave regularly from 7.30 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon.

Most of them arrive in Toyapakeh but some in Sampalan harbor. Prices are similar from one to another and now it is easy to book online on PenidaGo or Easybook.

Most companies do not offer pick-up around Bali at this time, so you will need to transport yourself to the harbor. Be aware that there is often traffic around the harbor and allow to be there before your boat departs.

Get from Kusamba to Nusa Penida

If you are coming from North Bali or Ubud, Kusamba Harbour is probably your best option. Speedboats depart there every day and get you to Nusa Penida in 25 minutes, to Sampalan or Buyuk harbour. We recommend Gangga Express.

Get from Padang Bai to Nusa Penida

If you are planning to take a car or motorbike to Nusa Penida, then the ferry departing from Padang Bai to Nusa Penida is your best option. However the schedule can be a little bit...unscheduled. There is usually a boat departing around 10am, you should aim to arrive for 9am.

The trip will take about 3 hours and you will arrive in Sampalan harbour.

Get from Gili islands to Nusa Penida

There are a few boats going from Gili islands to Nusa Lembongan and this is your best option. Most boats leave Gili Air or Gili Trawagan in the morning and will often make a stop in Padang Bai in Bali, before going to Nusa Lembongan. From there you are only a short ride away from Nusa Penida. These speedboats can also be booked online.

Get from Nusa Lembongan to Nusa Penida

The small public boats between the two islands run every day from 7am to 5pm. From Nusa Lembongan they depart from the Yellow Bridge on Nusa Lembongan side. Expect to wait a little bit until the boat has enough people to depart and you will be on your way! You will arrive in Toyapakeh in Nusa Penida and the ride takes about 10min.
